Ionuț Barău makes his debut in 2019, at Art Safari, in the "Young Blood" exhibition. In 2021, at Art Market Budapest, he was part of the official selection of the Hungarian curators, "10+1 artists to follow" out of the 500 present. The composition imposes unusual structures, volumes, and materialities: polyurethane foam, industrial paint, acrylic markers etc. "Ionuț Barău highlights the dynamics of his Egos: on the one hand, we see a fundamental Ego, through which he expresses mental intimacy, on the other hand the artist refers to an Ego that he involves in social life (as it appears at Henri Bergson, in "Essai sur les données immédiates de la conscience", French edition, 2018). Other states of the Ego, which he brings into the work, are the following: the spiritual Ego - which contemplates itself with the same objectivity as it does others; the intimate Ego, made up of the artist’s fundamental values; the social Ego - which incorporates the systems of professional values, class values etc. Given the fact that, in a large proportion of his compositions we can find shrubs, branches, leaves, Ionuț Barău seems to be choosing the forest as his witness, in his introspective dialogue. It seems that it is the only thing that can enable the peace which he needs so much for his dialogue with Self," states Băloiu, the curator of the artist’s last personal exhibition.
