Sava Henția is one of the most important painters in the first generation of artists who studied at the educational establishment organised by Theodor Aman starting with 1865. His first years of study were marked by the corrections of his masters Aman and Tattarescu, while after 1871, Henția enjoyed the superior training provided by the Paris academies. A recipient of a stipend for studies abroad, Henția went to Alexandre Cabanel's workshop for 3-4 years. After 1874 we can say we are dealing with a complete artist, his qualities propelling him to the list of the most important figures of Romanian art at the end of the 19th century.
