Theodor Pallady is part of the generation of remarkable Romanian artists who shaped "new painting", while imposing their style and the hallmark of their own approach. The artist stands out with his classical orientation expressed through simple lines, proportionality and perspective according to the Western aesthetic logic. His creation reveals the rational control that the artist seems to have acquired over the lyricism of his works. However, using this orientation and from a detached, unbiased and reluctant position regarding opulent sentimentalism, the painter conveys the essential of what he paints. Using lines, shapes and colours and following the classical principles in technique, ratios and proportions, Pallady goes beyond the formalism of depicted objects, which are "just a starting point for what we see in them." Pallady is an interior painter par excellence. Most of his works are room interiors or interior nudes and portraits. In this whole context, the artist faithfully captures the intrinsic force and beauty of realities conveyed in thick touches on the canvas. As he used to say himself, "I am incapable of simply painting, without having something to express". His preference for interior compositions and pictural constructions has led to the appearance of an exceptional series of still lifes. Treated in the same aesthetic manner as the classical interiors painted in the workshop in Place Dauphine, Pallady's still lifes often resonate with the spirit of the artist. With recognisable props and an ascetic figurative baggage, his works are defined by a classical, Cezannian register.
