Obverse: "IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P" Reverse: "S P Q R OPTIMO – PRINCIPI" As an emperor, between 98 and 117, Trajan has extended the Roman Empire to become bigger than ever. He has conquered Dacia, which offered land to Roman colonists and access to the wealthy gold and salt reserves. The legend on the obverse represents the abbreviation of the titles Imperator, Caesar, Nervae Traiano Augustus, Germanicus, Dacicus, Pontifex Maximus, Tribunicia Potestate, Consul Quintum, Pater Patriae, while on the reverse we find Senatus Populusque Romanus Optimo Principi.
