Regele Mihai s-a născut în 1921 și, încă din copilărie, iconografia sa s-a adăugat celei a monarhiei din România. Teodor Burcă (1889-1950), sculptor specializat în portretistică, atât monumentală, cât și de mică dimensiune, a realizat portrete în bronz și marmură ale unor personalități culturale și politice. Bustul regelui se sprijină pe un suport paralelipipedic evazat la bază.
