Stiletul este confecţionat dintr-o lamă de oţel cromat, cu o teacă din alamă decorată cu stema de stat a RSR. Stiletul era folosit numai în timpul paradelor militare, el înlocuind sabia de la uniforma ofițerilor armatei române deoarece era considerată o "reminiscență burgheză".
