Being in Paris starting from January 1908, the artist Iser attended the Ranson Free Academy, also having contributions in the satirical journals "Le Témoin" and "Le Rire", where he published humoristic drawings for two consecutive years. He was introduced to the European avant-garde movement within the artistic circle of Batteau-Lavoir by André Derain and Constantin Brâncuși. He would not break off his relations with the country, sending drawings for the periodicals "Viața literară și artistică" and "Revista celor l’alți", and he would also exhibit within "Tinerimea Artistică"’s group events. Returning to the country in 1909, the artist brought personal works for a group exhibition, as well as works by his comrades Derain, Forain and Galanis. The artist exhibited 103 works, including humorous drawings, genre scenes, landscapes from Paris and Trouville. Bringing fove aspirations into the Bucharest ambience, the exhibition was received reluctantly. One work by Forain and two by Iser were to be sold. Unable to return to Paris, Iser returned the works to his colleagues. With his works, he organized roadshows in: Iași (December 1909), Galați (30 December – 1909 - 9 January 1910), and Brăila (9 – 15 January 1910). (G.M.)
