The painting of interiors was one pf the pictural genres where Petrașcu took over a classical theme, but reinterpreted it, either with the novel manner in which he placed colour, or through the space organization modality. Fascinated particularly by the specific nature of his own interior, which intermingles with his workshop, the artist conceives a profound cycle, which also provides this oil painting. Being attracted by a composition coordinated by a limited plane, controllable in terms of perspective, the painter started introducing the interior in the period 1912-1914, when the first oil paintings with characters occur in this predefined space. "Woman in the Workshop" - 1912 (National Museum of Art of Romania, inv. 7827) or "Woman in the Workshop" (National Museum of Art of Romania, inv. 7848). Not referring to its static nature, which pertains to another aesthetic typology, Petrașcu’s interior is currently - along with the same theme worked by Pallady - one of the most representative artistic manifestations of Romanian art.
