Opera este reprodusă în "Calendarul Minervei", anul XVII, 1915 la pag. 174, sub titlul "Ursarul". Opera a participat la a IV-a expoziție personală Octav Băncilă, Ateneul Român, februarie 1914 și este menționată ca atare în articolul "Mișcarea artistică", N.Pora, "Calendarul Minervei", 1915, pag. 178. Portretul îl reprezintă pe tatăl lui Gheorghe T. Kirileanu, cărturar, folclorist, bibliotecar al Palatului Regal și membru de onoare al Academiei Române.
