Cecilia Cuţescu-Storck este una dintre personalităţile feminine marcante pentru istoria artelor în interbelicul românesc. Mărturie stau demersurile ei constante în lupta pentru drepturile şi emanciparea femeilor. Astfel, în anul 1916 înfiinţează sub patronajul Reginei Maria şi a Reginei Elisabeta "Asociaţia femeilor pictore şi sculptore", în acelaşi an devenind şi prima femeie profesor la un institut de studii superioare din Europa, fiind numită profesor de artă decorativă în cadrul Şcolii de Belle Arte din București.
