Gifted with a great capacity for synthesis and observation, artist Iser finds his inspiration in reality. This is where he meets the man who he would always hold a special place for and who would remain at the foundation of his entire creation. From peasants in Argeș to peasant soldiers, to Tatars of Dobrudja, to creators of culture, to anonymous circus and theatre figures, Iser captures the human being in several roles, highlighting his characters in expressive visual interpretations. One major vein in Iser's creation is the Dobrudjan space, sketched around 1913, when he came into contact with the ever so alluring world of the Tatars and Turks. The settlement established here would offer the painter the chance to meet them up-close, noticing their customs and apparel. A rich pictorial theme, inspired by the Dobrudjan space, would later give birth to the studio odalisques, accomplished in a time when the artist was excluded from exhibitions, a time when he would try to recreate the Dobrudjan space through sumptuous disguises and special chromatics.
