Research information
Between 1916 and 1919, during his pilgrimages across the region of Dobrudja, Nicolae DÄrÄscu would paint around 4-5 works dedicated to Gypsy and Turkish nomads. The Gypsy camps, as the artist himself calls them, are surprised in revealing compositions, and his works introduce us to an oriental picturesque. Started in the village of PaÈacîÈla, near Jurilovca, Tulcea county, this small cycle is painted in the summer of 1916, so that after the First World War, the artist would paint a few other similar compositions.
