Frederic Storck realiza bustul lui Spiru Haret în perioada în care omul de stat se afla în al doilea său mandat în fruntea Ministerului Instrucțiunii Publice (1901-1904). Reformator al sistemului educațional românesc, Haret avea să fie imortalizat și de Ion Jalea 30 de ani mai târziu.
