Representative of the '80s generation, Darie Dup is one of the most versatile contemporary sculptors, his stylistic solutions being among the most diverse. He harmoniously mixes wood with resin, or bronze with neon fixtures, ready-made objects with plaster or other mouldable materials. The expression "forest is the good Romanian brother" is extremely used in the language vocabulary and inoculated early in the collective mind through the poems taught at school. However, with respect to the present and the environmental protection policy of the Romanian state, the natural question arises: Is the Romanian citizen really a brother or a friend of the forest, nature? Proposing a unique stylistic solution, the artist Darie Dup brings to the public an equally suggestive work, with a clear, concise message, which innovates through the materials used and brings contemporary sculpture up to date. Not coincidentally, the three colours that make up the national flag illuminate the cut trunks of the trees. The artist draws attention to a hot topic on the agenda and embraces an ecological solution to illustrate his concept, by choosing not to cut. Since the contemporary sculptor is "against any destructive cuts" (Gheorghe Iova) and anchored in a deep concern for the future of humanity, but also of art. This work was part of the "Axis Mundi 1" exhibition, held at Brâncovenești Palaces Cultural Centre, Mogoșoaia, 2014. The work was part of the "Axis Mundi 2" exhibition, Brukenthal National Museum of Contemporary Art Gallery, Sibiu, 2015. The opera was part of the exhibition "Axis Mundi 3", the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, 2016. This work was part of the "Axis Mundi 4" exhibition, County Museum of Gorj, 2017. The opera was part of the "Art at the Window" exhibition, Simeza Gallery, Bucharest, 2018.
