Identification elements in terms of iconographic and stylistic order: The icon is a feast day icon and it was part of the frieze of an iconostasis, from which nine icons have been preserved in the collection. The anonymous painter depicts the scene of the Transfiguration, respecting the traditional composition: above, Jesus on Mount Tabor, flanked by Moses and the Holy Prophet Elijah; below, the three Apostles fallen to the ground. However, the means of plastic expression are awkward: the faces are rendered graphically with less skill, the colors of the vestments are applied in flat shades, and the folds are rendered schematically. Taken as a whole, the icon's painting, its composition and execution are marked by strong popular accents. The chromatic scheme is lively, with dominant red, ochre, and blue. Identification elements in technical order: The wooden support of the painting consists of a single board without a crossbar. Conclusions: The painting of the icon is stylistically classified in the religious painting practiced in the first half of the 19th century, created in the more conservative local workshops, which will gradually transform into popular painting (A.D.).
