Identifying elements of an iconographic and stylistic nature: The icon was part of the row of the Apostles in an iconostasis. Apostle Thomas is portrayed standing, oriented to the left, on the golden ochre background of the icon, in the upper part, and green in the bottom part. Around his head, he has a golden halo. He wears a green chiton and a red himation. With his right hand, he holds a rotulus. The features of the face and the pattern of the face, made in successive shades of ochre, are characteristic of Russian paintings from the XVI-XVII centuries. The icon is in the series with the icons of Saint Apostle Luke, Saint Apostle Bartholomew, Saint Apostle John the Theologian, Saint Apostle Mark and Saint Archdeacon Aitala, being painted by the same iconographer and during the same period. Technical identifying elements: The wooden board of the icon is prepared in the same way as the others: on its face, there is a wide decroated frame, and on the verso two lateral crossbars. Conclusions: The icon belonged to a Russian iconostasis painted in the style of the Russian school from the first half of the XVIIth century (A.D.).
