Oradea Mare, Gross-Wardein în versiunea germană, l-a inspirat pe gravorul și pictorul olandez Georg (Joris) Hoefnagel (1542-1601), stabilit la Praga în slujba împăratului Rudolf al II-lea, cel care era inspirat de lucrarea geografului german Georg Braun, autorul monumentalei lucrări "Civitates orbis terrarum", apărută între 1572 și 1617 și ilustrată, printre alții, și de Hoefnagel. Exemplarul face parte dintr-o ediție publicată în 1657 și descrie planul orașului cu unele detalii urbanistice.
