Aviatorul Ștefan Ștefănescu se remarcase în timpul Primului Război Mondial alături de alți ofițeri, piloți ai tinerei arme a aviației militare românești. Fotografiile de față erau publicate în ziarul "Universul" pentru a ilustra accidentul aviatic, prăbușirea avionului Siskin de producție britanică, căruia îi căzuse victimă pilotul român.
