The photograph is taken in a closer shot, which highlights the queen's activity of decorating a manuscript in front of her on the desk. In her left hand, the queen holds the drawing palette and in her right hand, with which she leafs through a book, the brush. She is surrounded by several works of art, among which a large work signed by Nicolae Grigorescu stands out, visible on the right side of the photograph.
