Jean A. Vaillant was a French journalist and writer, a close friend of C.A. Rosetti and the generation of 1848 in the Principalities. He supported the project of organizing the Revolution in Bucharest and worked to make known in the West the cause of the Romanians. This work, intentionally published under a grammatically incorrect name, "Romanie" instead of "Roumanie", wanted to underline the Latin origin of the Romanians who, consequently, were part of a noble nation that had the right to decide its own fate. The book enjoyed great success in Paris. The original binding is preserved.
