The 21st Infantry Regiment was a tactical level unit established on August 14/27, 1916, by mobilizing existing units and subunits belonging to the Ilfov 4th No. 21 Regiment. The regiment was part of the 8th Infantry Brigade organization, being relocated during peacetime to the Bucharest garrison.
