Ucenici ai aceluiași maestru, frații Isaac și Adriaen von Ostade au fost aderenți de seamă ai picturii de peisaj și ai picturii de genre. Desprins de fratele său în 1641, Isaac își va căuta arta proprie, unde va reda cu un studiu rafinat, contrastele pitorești al unor scene simple, compuse în maniera "școlii tonale" simpliste ce luase naștere în ținutul Harleem, între anii 1610 și 1620.
