The artist studied in Munich and exhibited in Paris, London, Brussels, Amsterdam, The Hague. Generally, she spent her summers painting around Brașov or Cluj, and travelling throughout the rest of the year. As she wandered all the way to Scandinavia, Scotland, Spain and the Middle East, from each trip resulted a new series of paintings. The traditional atmosphere and the roughness of the Breton lands bring monumentality to the artist's pictorial vision, and, as a stylistic register, a closeness to Expressionism. The narrow, cold and dark chromatic reminds of Charles Cottet's painting. The Transylvanian atmosphere, the iridescent light and the collected chromatic matter offer a distant vision, typical for the sketch, leading to the dematerialisation of the motif. (E.C.)
