Attracted to the painting of Nicolae Grigorescu, after being an apprentice of his mentor and friend Jean Al. Steriadi, influenced by Cezanne's cerebralism and the logic of Derain's construction, Lucian Grigorescu is regarded today as one of the most illustrative representatives of a local post-impressionism. Narrator of Cassis and Balchik, himself an unusual character of the places, Grigorescu was attracted to the landscape, especially urban, in which never forgot to integrate the human factor. The urban landscape, would often be practiced in the neighbourhoods of Bucharest and Mangalia, Grigorescu being attracted to the charm of the suburbs and the generous vedutes.
