The historian Nicolae Iorga (1871-1940) is captured in his office as director of the Institute for the Study of Universal History (now the "Nicolae Iorga" Institute of History of the Romanian Academy), which he founded in 1937 and headed until his resignation in 1940. At the bottom of the photograph, there is a short handwritten note thanking the scholar.
