Grigore Preoteasa (1915-1957) was an illegal member of the Romanian Communist Party. His friendship with Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej, whom he met in prison, got him to the top of the communist nomenklatura after 1948. He lost his life in a plane crash at Moscow airport in 1957 during a state visit. In May 1945 Geo Bogza gave him the volume, with a warm handwritten dedication, dated and signed. The copy is number 883 of a print run of 1226.
