Historical icon-document, originating from the goldsmith workshops of Veliko Tarnovo, bearing witness to the relocation of the relic with the remains of Saint Dimitrie Basarabov. In the upper register, Saint Dimitrie Basarabov is depicted surrounded by Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, Saint Dimitrie of Thessaloniki, and Saint John. The lower part depicts the scene of bringing the relic from Bulgaria, the village of Basarabov, to the current Patriarchal Cathedral on Dealul Mitropoliei. The relic is carried by a group of priests led by Metropolitan Grigorie II of Wallachia, and in front of the group is the Russian army, led by General Piotr Saltikov. In this way, Saint Dimitrie Basarabov, also known as Dimitrie the New, became the protector of Bucharest and the entire Wallachian country.
