The composition is disposed into two areas, set apart by clouds: in the lower area, Elisha, captured while ploughing, is given the news that Elijah will be lifted to the heavens; in the upper area, a carriage with two winged horses takes the saint up to the skies. The floral elements and the hills obtained from the succession of parallel lines and various geometric elements lend the icon the atmosphere specific to the icons from the Brașov Șchei region. (M.B.)
