tempera and gold foil on wood, 42 x 29 cm

Against the background of the blue-painted icon stands out the imposing gilded throne, decorated with baroque ornamental motifs, on which sits Saint Nicholas holding the Gospel open with his left hand and blessing with his right. He is dressed in episcopal vestments: blue chiton with white flowers, gold epitrahil with pearls and precious stones, crimson red felon embroidered with gold flowers, white Church vestment embroidered with black crosses and gold fabric. Around the head it has a halo decorated with a swivel. In the upper part of the icon, above the clouds, Jesus Christ with the Gospel and Virgin Mary with the Church vestment are represented. On the left side, at the base of the armchair, the donor of the icon is painted dressed in the fashion of the time: purple surplice, blue fur-trimmed contes, red shawls and slippers. Above his head, the initials "D.G.R." are written. The frame is decorated with floral motifs, in relief and gilded.
