Mite Kremnitz (born Marie Charlotte von Bardeleben, 1852-1916, married Dr. Wilhelm Kremnitz and settled in 1875 in Bucharest) is the author of numerous novels (the best-known being Ausgewanderte/Emigrant, Kröner Verlag, Leipzig 1890; Am Hofe von Ragusa/La Curtea din Ragusa, Schlesische Verlagsanstalt, Breslau, 1902), novels and short stories set in the Romanian environment, but also in the German scene of the time. Stimulated by the cultural atmosphere of the Junimea, she translated a lot of Romanian literature (Rumänische Skizzen, Socec, 1877, and Neue rumänische Skizzen, Friedrich Verlag, Leipzig, 1881). She also published biographies of personalities (including that of Charles I), historical writings and children's literature. Passionate about English culture, she also signed under the pseudonym George Allan, and during her collaboration with Carmen Sylva, the voice of "Idem".
