This work is the first historical synthesis of the 1821 Revolution published by Constantin D. Aricescu (1823-1886). The merit of this work is given by the documentary effort that the author has put into it, using not only documents but also the testimonies of direct participants in the event. His book opened a long polemic between Romanian and Greek historians about the time of 1821.
