The French writer Pierre Loti and Queen Elizabeth of Romania had a relationship of friendship and literary collaboration. Loti published this work inspired by the period of the Queen's exile after the collapse of the uninspiring project of the marriage of Crown Prince Ferdinand to the Bridesmaid Elena Văcărescu, a project supported by Elizabeth and condemned by King Charles I who imposed the exile of his wife for two years.

For clarifications regarding the bidding procedure, hammer price costs, guarantee, payment, and collection terms for the winning lot, we recommend carefully reading/re-reading the Bidding Regulations.
