On July 24, 1876, the first liberal government in Romania's history was sworn in under the leadership of Ion C. Brătianu - the leader of the Liberals was already recognized by the entire Romanian political class as a "great politician". In 1876, assisted by Constantin A. Rosetti, he formed a liberal cabinet, which remained in power until 1888, serving as minister during the Russian-Turkish War of 1877, the Berlin Congress, the formation of the Romanian Kingdom, the revision of the constitution and other reforms.
