The Mother of God with Baby Jesus is rendered in an imposing armchair, decorated with motifs pertaining to Brâncoveanu-era tradition. The Archangels Michael and Gabriel, who are rendered behind the back of the armchair and the crown placed on the head of the Mother, attest her status of "Lady of the Angels". (M.B.)
