On the golden background of the icon, the Mother of God is rendered up to the middle, holding the child on her left arm and pointing to the child with her right hand - the Hodighitria type. Because the Virgin Mary has her head slightly bent toward the child and a pondering gaze, and Baby Jesus is rendered in a semi-profile with his gaze pointing to his mother, the representation also references the Eleusa type. The Virgin Mary wears a purple-red veil draped in angular folds, and the child is clothed with a grey chiton and umber himation. Both have richly decorated halos by means of incision. The faces are created according to the typical fit from the tradition of the previous century, i.e. Cretan painting. But their model with sudden transitions from the shadow to the illuminated parts is related to the style of Greek icons from the 17th century practiced in the painting centre of Zakintos, Greece. Some subsequent interventions alter, to some extent, the painting of the icon. Above, at the corners, the initials of the Mother of God are inscribed in two circular medallions. The elevated frame of the icon is golden and decorated by means of incision via concentric circles.
