The composition of the scene preserves the tradition of Brâncoveanu-era painting: In the centre of the composition of the rendered scene, we see the golden throne on which the Mother of God is seated with Baby Jesus in her arms, maintaining an imposing stance, richly decorated with golden vegetal motifs. The Virgin Mary holds Baby Jesus on her left arm, and with her right hand she points to him (the Hodighitria type). Baby Jesus is signalling a blessing with the right hand and is holing a talisman (phylactery) with the left one. Both are wearing golden crowns and halos around their heads. Behind the armchair, on both sides, the Archangels Michael and Gabriel are rendered standing, wearing long tunics, thus the representation acquires the value of "Mother of God the Empress and Lady of the Angels". The background of the icon is painted blue at the top and green at the bottom The vivid chromatic, with combinations of gold, green, red of several shades, blue and umber, vaguely reminds of the Brâncoveanu-era style. The faces of the characters still retain the Brâncoveanu typology but are rendered graphically. The dating of the painting is marked in black, at the foot of the armchair: "1786". The inscriptions are marked with red, in Cyrillic letters, in Romanian. The frame applied to the icon is double profiled, painted with gold on the inside and red on the outer edge.
