The passion for colour instilled by master Ciucurencu makes its presence felt in this work as well. The man here is outlined with pronounced cheekbones and well-defined lines. The artist opts for a dark chromatic, placing emphasis on depth, on the background; the protagonist’s face being thought-out and composed over time. Although he rejects performances and theatre, Piliuță "directs" his works - he seeks a meaning and aligns them to a context, giving the viewer the opportunity to observe the character in his actual state. The cold, dark chromatic and the thoughtful, troubled figure coexist with the natural, rustic background. The clothing and the background in Piliuță's portrait - although initially set in second place - take on a special importance, defining the protagonist’s state of mind.
