In July 1927, in the context of future King Carol II resigning from the throne, and following King Ferdinand's passing, King Michael was proclaimed as a monarch. As he was under age (he was born on the 25th of October 1921), a regency consisting of Patriarch Miron Cristea, Prince Nicholas and Gheorghe Buzdugan, President of the Court of Appeal, was established. King Michael's first reign lasted only until the summer of 1930, when Carol II would return to Romania and take over the throne. The whole military inventory, including the swords belonging to the officers' gala uniforms, was adjusted to the new political realities of the 1927-1930 period, so that, after the reign of Carol II began, everything would change once again.
