Autorul Ioan Mire Malik, inginer şi matematician, junimist, a devenit secretar de stat în perioada în care Titu Maiorescu a fost Ministrul Educaţiei. Manualele lui au avut nenumărate ediţii. Volumul de faţă, legat în pânză grena cu titlul pe cotor "Melik, Aritmetica, Geometria", reuneşte două manuale apărute în ani diferiţi. Colligat, Elemente de Geometrie, ediţia a V-a, Bucuresci, Socec, 1885 Ex libris ştampilă – "Dr. G. Dumitriade, Craiova".
