Established on October 3, 1898 by King Carol I, the "Reward for work for education" medal was awarded to teachers and preceptors with outstanding results of their teaching work, both in higher, primary education and "popular education". The obverse includes the bust of the king facing right and surrounded by his title, while the reverse displays the phrase with the name of the medal, together with a laurel wreath, which is also repeated above the medal, as a support of the ribbon.
