The obverse of the medal features a right-facing effigy of the banker Jean Chrissoveloni, surrounded by the exergue inscription "Maker of the palace of the bank Jean N. Chrissoveloni + 1881 - 1926 + ", while the reverse depicts the bank edifice in the middle and the names of the architects George Matei Cantacuzino and August Schmiedigen and of the institution. The bank's beginnings are linked to the city of Galati, the year 1848 and Zanis Manolis Chrissoveloni, a descendant of a Greek family attested from the 15th - 16th centuries. The bank itself was founded in 1920 by his successor, Jean Chrissoveloni. The building is located in the capital's financial district, on Strada Lipscani, no. 16, opposite the National Bank of Romania.
