The Dutch astronomer, geographer and theologian Petrus Plancius (1552-1622) published this map of the holy places that knew several editions. The work was printed with the help of Baptista van Deutecum. The map includes the region between the Dead Sea and the Nile Delta and is framed by 15 richly presented scenes, inspired by different biblical moments. Copper engraving colored manually after printing.
