The map represents a very well-known piece, taken over by several cartographers after the Atlas published by Gerardus Mercator for the first time in 1595. The copy is part of a series edited in Amsterdam in 1635 by the cartographer and editor Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571-1638). Hand-colored copper engraving after printing.
