The Society for the Protection of War Orphans was organized and led by Princess Olga Sturdza in 1916, after the country's entry into the war, with the aim of caring for the children of fallen Romanian soldiers and those from civilian families struck by the hardships caused by the war. The volume includes numerous photographic reproductions from clichés made in the König&Baier photographic studio in Oradea, drawings executed by Victor Ion Popa, and two large-scale heliogravures (one of which is missing). On the last printed sheet is the society's stamp and the facsimile signature of the president.
