The ring was produced to mark the arrival of the Romanian military mission in Germany in 1940. At the center is the Luftwaffe eagle with the crown of Romania and the date 01.04.1940 (April 1, 1913 being the date of the establishment of the first Military Aeronautics structure and the Day of the Air Force General Staff). In September 1940, Luftwaffe officials visited Bucharest and initiated a plan to reorganize the Romanian military aviation. The mission had the purpose of training Romanian pilots on German aircraft, especially fighters, and returning pilots to the country aboard a German aircraft.
