The cartographer Nicolas Sanson (1600-1667) is considered one of the founders of French cartography, author of a vast work appreciated at the time. The piece is part of one of his main works, "General Maps of all parts of the world", published in Paris in 1658. Double copper engraving manually colored after printing.
