Constantly reclaiming his roots, Apostu's work will be shaped around the thematic permanence - the myth of the primordial couple, the myth of motherhood, the myth of paternity, the myth of divinity, which will successively dominate his creative consciousness. Close to the inner forms of the Romanian folk ethos, George Apostu will stand out from the beginning as a disciple of heritage and the archaic, which he will transform into stylistic innovations full of mystery and inexhaustible. Continuing the "taille directe" sculpture, the explorations of the last period of creation will turn to the theme of the sacred, period in which the "Christic" cycle will be born, the peak of his work. Choosing wood - symbol of living materiality - as its support material, the cycle will bring together in a dense semantic the homily of sacrifice, its concentrations on the convergence between the sacred and the material world - subject to dispersion and degradation but renewed by the Christic gesture.
