The "Man, Space, Time" series was born in 1985, marking Ion Mândrescu's reorientation towards figurative art. For the artist, the abstract is understood in close connection with the figurative, the two of them being interconnected. Through this series, at which he would be working for a long time, he reiterates an antitheses function in relation to human existence, perceived in connection with time and space. Ion Mândrescu experiments a lot and works with different materials. He carves and moulds wood, stone, bronze or marble. Following a journey abroad, he discovers Rodin, whose work fascinates him, offering him the necessary guidance for his future creation.
