With a painting inspired by the truth of life, Ressu created under a visual realism, thus expressing himself as a clear and truthful artist. The theme of childhood and motherhood is noted in his work as early as 1910, but also later, especially around the 1920s, a period in which he would have his son Ionel as a model, immortalized by the artist on several occasions. This theme will awaken in his palette warmer and somewhat more spontaneous colours, as well as new expressions of attitude of the characters, in line with the innocence portrayed.
