Queen Mary dedicated this book of stories to her daughter, Princess Ileana. The Franco-British illustrator Edmund Dulac (1882-1953), one of the most valuable artists specialized in book illustration, created the images that enrich this edition. The money obtained from the sale of this work was used by Queen Mary to support Romania’s war effort in the First World War. The spine of the copy shows visible signs of the passage of time.
